FAITH OVER FEAR
John 14 (NLT) “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.”
How do we choose faith over fear?
John 14:27 (NLT) “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
1) We open the gift of peace.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV) For we live by faith, not by sight.
2) We listen to God and His Word.
Romans 10:17 (NLT) So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
Romans 10:17 (NCV) So faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NLT) We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. 8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (MSG) So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever.
