Put God First
Giving and generosity are two different things.
• Most Americans don’t feel rich, and we are.
• Most Americans think we are generous, and we are not.
This is what we do: We Give Generously
2 Corinthians 9:7-9 (NLT)
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
This is what God does: God Multiplies Abundantly
2 Corinthians 9:10-11 (NLT)
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them,
they will thank God.
Tithing breaks the cycle of SCARCITY and creates a new cycle of SUPPLY.
The Power Of The Tithe
1) The tithe teaches us to put God first.
Deuteronomy 14:23b (TLB) The purpose of tithing is to teach you to always put God first in your lives.
It takes faith to give first, it doesn’t take faith to give last.
2) The tithe builds our faith.
Malachi 3:10 (NLT) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
Give God your first and your best, and God will take care of the rest.
3) The tithe provides for the work of God’s Church.
Malachi 3:10 (NLT) “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house…”
